Black pepper, Piper nigrum, originally comes from the Malabar Coast in India. It is a woody, perennial climbing plant also cultivated in other tropical regions. Its essential oil is obtained from the berries and forms part of the E.O.B.B.D. selection from Esential’Arôms, in which the exact botanical species, producing organ and biochemical specificity are identified. In this case, its profile is defined by limonene, beta-caryophyllene, beta-pinene and alpha-pinene, components responsible for its spicy, warm and characteristic aroma. Due to its natural concentration, it must be used with caution and always diluted before cosmetic application.
