Neroli is obtained from the flowers of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium var. amara, and is one of the essential oils most appreciated for its floral, luminous and elegant aromatic profile. The catalogue states that around one tonne of petals is needed to produce one litre of oil, and that the flowers are hand-picked. It forms part of the E.O.B.B.D. selection from Esential’Arôms, in which the exact botanical species, producing organ and biochemical specificity are identified. In this case, its profile is defined by linalool, nerolidol and farnesol, components responsible for its delicate and persistent aromatic character. Due to its natural concentration, it must be used with caution and always diluted before cosmetic application.
